My training took place at the MAN PrimeServ Academy in Shanghai, China, one of the most important international technical training centers for marine engines. The academy is part of MAN Energy Solutions and specializes in advanced main engine technology for ships.

Training Subject

The training focused on the electronically controlled MAN ME-C two-stroke main engines, which are widely used in modern commercial shipping due to their high efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and compliance with international emission regulations.

Knowledge and Skills Acquired

During the training, theoretical and practical knowledge was acquired in the following areas:

  • Operating principles of MAN ME-C engines

  • Electronic control system (Engine Control System – ECS)

  • Operation and adjustment of fuel injection & exhaust valve control

  • Diagnostic systems and fault analysis (alarm & safety logic)

  • Starting, operating, and safe shutdown procedures

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical subsystems

  • Compliance with IMO regulations and modern environmental performance requirements
